    The Guest Liaison is the main contact for guests in Punta Arenas. The objective of this position is to prepare individual guests or guided groups for their trip to Antarctica and support the Guest Services team with the departure logistics. You will be working with different types of guests who are part of world travel clubs, ski expeditions, government organizations, scientific projects, film crews, photographer trips, and mountaineering pursuits.

    Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE) is the most experienced deep-field operator in Antarctica, providing a wide range of guided experiences, air support, logistical back-up and safety cover for governmental research programs, independent expeditions, and tourists. We work in a worldwide market of different cultures and languages, and we fully embrace this diversity. We also have a strong environmental ethic. ALE is a Utah company with a year-round office in Salt Lake City, a seasonal operations support office in Punta Arenas, Chile, and several seasonal field camps in Antarctica.


    Seasonal Information

    Guest Liaisons in Punta Arenas generally work from October to late January.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Liaise with the Salt Lake Booking office, Antarctic guide crews and guests to prepare them for their trip to Antarctica
    • Welcome guests upon arrival in Punta Arenas
    • Prepare guest itineraries and communicate a pre-departure plan
    • Review guest's polar clothing and equipment necessary for their program or communicate the requirements to the group leader
    • Prepare rental clothing, facilitate any size changes, and collect payment
    • Review guest documentation and collect outstanding paperwork
    • Upload administrative documentation to company platforms
    • Host guide or group leader meetings to discuss logistics and present departure briefings to large groups of guests
    • Provide flight and weather updates and manage expectations during delays
    • Collect and store luggage in warehouses and maintain detailed inventories
    • Compile guest information including notes on equipment, and trip expectations and send to Antarctic field staff
    • Conduct communication checks for iridium phones, tracking devices, and radios
    • Provide guests with information around Punta Arenas including outfitters, gear shops, transportation options, and restaurants
    • Assist with changes or extensions to hotel reservations
    • Assist with the check-in and baggage drop off process at the airport
    • Coordinate airport transfers, bus routes and baggage movements
    • Physically assist with transportation of polar clothing and sleeping bags to the laundromat
    • Physically assist with the rolling of laundered sleeping bags for storage
    • Support all ALE related activities in Punta Arenas not exclusive to the front line with guests
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Timely and organized with an eye for detail.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Must have previous customer service and guest relations experience. Must be fluent in both verbal and written English.

    Preferred qualifications include Chilean residency, strong computer skills, and some cold weather camping experience.

    Physical Requirements

    This position involves medium work that primarily involves standing or moving for long periods of time. This position may exert up to 60 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Incumbents in this role typically require standing or sitting for prolonged periods, communicating with others to exchange information, repeating motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers, assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
