    As the Engineering Director of Community you will have a broad impactand responsibility for growing community engagement and processesacross all of engineering.

    If you want to define what building thenext generation of open source community looks like, this is the rolefor you.

    You will be responsible for assisting various teams atCanonical in broadening their community engagement activities. Youwill ensure that all engineering teams make community an importantaspect of how they do what they do.

    You'll provide assistance to newand existing contributors seeking to get involved or expand theirrole, and connect community contributors with mentors.

    You willorganise cross-team participation in community events andmentoring. Outside of those responsibilities you will assistthe Ubuntu community team in ensuring community processes are highquality and consistently implemented.


    What you willdo:


    • Collaborate proactively with multiple distributedteams
    • Help engineering teams establish and achieve communityengagement goals
    • Establish consistency in community process,engagement, and interaction across engineering
    • Influence othersand represent technical insight to customers and other engineers
    • Spend a significant amount of time mentoring others and providingcross team input
    • Work from home with global travel 4 to 6 weeksfor internal and external events
    • Collaborate with the developeradvocates and PR teams at Canonical to promote Ubuntu and relatedtechnologies via blogs and social media.
    • Identifying relevantinfluencers and devising plans on how to effectively engage withthem

    Who you are:


    • You have a long history andclear public record of community engagement, particularly with opensource communities
    • You are capable of representing Canonical /Ubuntu externally
    • You have experience leading successful projectsand teams
    • You are an articulate communicator
    • You arecomfortable preparing and giving presentations
    • You lovetechnology and working with brilliant people
    • You follow industrytrends and new technologies
    • You understand and value how you dowhat you do, as well as what you do
    • You have strong collaborationand influencing skills
    • You are curious, flexible, articulate, andaccountable
    • You value soft skills and are passionate,enterprising, thoughtful, and selfmotivated
    • BS/BA or equivalentin Computer Science, Technical Communication, English, or a relatedfield
