- Support the different operations with major permit developments and strategies.
- Assess risks involved and mitigation measures.
- Maintain, in coordination with the sites, a register of the most critical permits.
- Implement and coordinate a permitting register through the operations and provide reports as required.
- Support, as a qualified expert, reviews of major ESIAs for new projects or relevant expansions.
- Support strategies in the areas of biodiversity and air quality, as well as research on mitigation or compensation solutions.
- Coordinate among sites and different disciplines to review and update current closure plans and closure plan strategies.
- Research state-of-the-art solutions, trends, and standards in closure measures.
- Review and provide input on project proposals and technical reports.
- Support the development of environmental performance standards, guides, and procedures that correspond to the Responsible Mining Management System
- Support training and internal assessments at all sites to facilitate implementation of environmental standards and evaluate compliance.
- Other duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an environmental- or science-related discipline
- Minimum 10+ years of experience; experience within mining industry preferred.
- Experience in major permits, including closure plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other disciplines to deliver successful outcomes on complicated issues.
- Willing to travel to global operations, work in diverse cultures and understand international business environments.
- Fluent in English and Spanish. In addition, Portuguese would also be an asset.

Responsible for strategic oversight on major permits across the organization, including Mine Closure Plans. This role will coordinate the status of major permits and the risks involved. They will support the different sites with advice on how to develop and approve those permits and manage risks. Special emphasis will be on South American assets, as many important developments are occurring in that region. Global support and coordination will also be required for Mine Closure Plans with the relevant operations and corporate departments, such as, social, water, technical services, among others. This role will work with the sites to ensure a deeper understanding of the environmental risks, opportunities, and overall performance at our global operations.
