    Job Description:

    The purpose of the Mining Control Systems Specialist is to advise and drive the implementation of Mine Control Systems, Equipment and Mine Process Simulation Systems, and Mine Asset Information Management Systems aimed optimising business processes for sustainable business results.

    Key Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute towards the vision and strategy for a Group-wide Mine Control Systems and Mine Asset Information Management Systems approach.
  • Advise on the selection and use of specialist Mine Control System technology (Fleet Management Systems (FMS), Short Interval Control (SIC) Systems, Digital Twin Simulation technology, etc.) for site commissioning and use thereof.
  • Own, develop, implement, and maintain Mine Control System Strategy and Standards
  • Manage and drive site based Mine Control System upgrades (Software, Hardware, etc.) and Disaster Recovery Backups
  • Advise on the effective use and maintenance of the Mine Asset Information Management Systems (COMOS, other)
  • Utilise specialist vendor systems knowledge to manage Vendor installation teams to effectively deliver on projects.
  • Increase "the value in use" of Mine Control Systems technologies by replicating best practise across the group.
  • Develop the skills base of site Mine Control, Digital Twin Simulation and Mine Asset Information Management teams in the effective use of systems technologies.
  • Integrate the Mine Control, Digital Twin and Mine Asset Information Systems framework with the Anglo Operating Model on site level.
  • Design and implement suitable controls to assist in eliminating Mine Control System EC&I repeat failures.
  • Advise on the identification of systems driven business opportunities at site level.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs.
  • Evaluate / test new system features on a development environment.
  • Capture and manage best practice approach in systems and documentation.
  • Support Integration of the Short Interval Control framework with the Mine Control Systems on site level
  • Ensure business continuity requirements are maintained.
  • Visibly demonstrate SHE values and principles.

    Qualifications:

    Knowledge

    Formal qualifications:

  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering).
  • A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
  • Role-specific knowledge:

  • Mine Control System technology (Fleet Management Systems (FMS), Short Interval Control (SIC) Systems, Digital Twin Simulation technology, etc.) for site commissioning and use thereof.
  • Technical Skills

  • Implement the most effective solutions to drive efficiencies.
  • Solve technical and operational issues in cooperation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and a demonstration of successful execution and delivery of Advanced Mine Technical/Control systems.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Mine Technical/Control Systems Configuration and Application.
