Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the director of the division, the Intern provides support to office operations performing a variety of standard administrative processes ensuring high quality and accuracy of work.
Performs in support of and in close collaboration with all administrative staff for effective and efficient functioning of the division, full confidentiality in all aspects of assignment, maintenance of protocol procedures and organization of office information flow.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the internship periodDuties may include:
- Support the effective and efficient functioning of the division in administrative issues.
- Translation of office communication/correspondence in Spanish/English
- Arrangement of meetings and events in coordination with all the division staff; including organization of seminars, workshops, etc.
- Support in office administration related duties: keep updated consultant information, maintenance of order of digital documents.
- Maintenance of contact and mailing lists of the Regional Conference and Regional Seminar.
- Take other related administrative duties as required
- Provision of information and support to staff on travel, including on route and hotel arrangements.
- Translation of power point presentation/slides and basic translation during meetings, when required.
- Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately; asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest in having twoway communication; tailors language, tone, style and format to match audience; demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed.
- Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be "clients" and seeks to see things from clients' point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients' needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients' environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
For this internship, studies in the area of administration or management is desirable.
Work Experience
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset.
NOTE:
"Fluency" equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ̈knowledge of ̈ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.

The internship is UNPAID.
All costs of travel and accommodation, including living expenses, must be covered by the intern or any relevant sponsoring institution.

- Degree programme (What are you currently studying or what have you studied ?)
- Graduation Date (When will you graduate or when did you graduate from the programme?)
- List the IT skills and programmes that you are proficient in.
- List your top three areas of interest.
- Explain your interest in the United Nations Internship Programme.
