Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the internship period


Duties may include:

  • Document, legal and internet research related to digital trade;
  • Collect and verify data and information on national regulations affecting digital trade environment in countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Accountability: Takes ownership of all responsibilities and honours commitments; delivers outputs for which one has responsibility within prescribed time, cost and quality standards; operates in compliance with organizational regulations and rules; supports subordinates, provides oversight and takes responsibility for delegated assignments; takes personal responsibility for his/her own shortcomings and those of the work unit, where applicable.
Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

  • For this internship, studies in the area of law, economics or international relations are desirable.
Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.


NOTE:
"Fluency" equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ̈knowledge of ̈ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
