    Job Description:

    PURPOSE

    With purpose of VP Projects timely and on budget delivery for business development, Project Controls Superintendent monitors and provides guidance and technical support to all projects teams, maintains project controls system and training for accurate projects portfolio assessment and control using advanced techniques including risk analysis, options, range analysis, change management, simulations/calculations for timely decision making in business portfolio development considering Anglo Americans economical value, risk and sustainability aspects.

    Is the professional who delivers guidance and support to all project controls personnel in VP Projects on use of Standards & Procedures, Systems and to ensure the investment management process compliancy for stage gates approvals.

    Performance & Delivery

  • Identify, evaluate, design and implement the budget control and follow up methodology, considering minimum standards of the mining industry, establishing procedures, required documentation and delivery dates, according to the projects and Companies critical dates.
  • Identify, evaluate, implement, together with Projects Managers, Portfolio Managers and Project Controls Manager, milestones of control defining indicators of results according to the strategic targets of the Company and the Business Model.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with others to define construction requirements and project schedules, controls project scope and budget
  • Prepare presentations of projects development from business point of view
  • Look after the accomplishment and improvements to the rules, procedures and instructions of its responsibility always according to the companies Policies, Rules and Standards.
  • Identify, evaluate, implement, and assure the accomplishment of Project Controls Procedures (costs, trends, Scope Changes) in order to mitigate potential deviations to Schedule and costs.
  • Oversee the cost estimate and Budget Baseline according to the project schedule, in coordination with all areas involved, verifying the consistence of the values and order of magnitude related to activities and deliverables, validating with correspondent areas and with purpose to look for savings.
  • Identify, evaluate, implement, and support projects for the fulfillment of Investment Assurance process, review of CAPEX and Schedule proposed
  • Identify, evaluate, implement, and assure the accomplishment of guidelines and criteria for the correct prioritization of projects
  • Follows and promotes established project standards, processes and procedures; examines and inspects work progress and construction sites to ensure specifications are met
  • Identify, evaluate, and alert project issues and risks. Proactively communicates identified project issues and risks, presents solutions and confers with Program Managers, Engineering Manager and project team to resolve problems
  • Maintains positive client relationships to leverage business
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Support and promote project for the capture of Lessons Learned. Diffuse the most relevant ones among projects/companies assuring the information documentation and carry out the workshops with purpose to systematize the knowledge for the company
  • Identify, evaluate and give support to Risk Assessment of the projects and of the business. Assure its fulfillment by the companies and Actions Plans for control and mitigation
  • Integrate Project evaluations in the state or phase they currently are; standardizing and aligning the criteria assuring the information is congruent and comparable and/or use tools which allows to compare projects with different level of development, accuracy, information and risk associated.
  • Coordinate and assure the update of the Projects Charters including projects own changes and external factors to dispose always a table with current economics and risks analysis.
  • Qualifications:

    Knowledge

  • Solid conceptual management of the Project Controls area and Standards related
  • General knowledge of contracts/purchase management
  • Planning and scheduling of the tasks / activities
  • Knowledge of Project Controls Rules and Best Practices
  • Risk Management Techniques and critical controls
  • 12 or more years of experience (at least 5 in cost and 3 in schedule)
  • Management of major projects experience (200k USD)
  • Technical Skills

  • Development and application of solutions to the discipline value chain to ensure productive and safe work and achieve plans
  • Identification and rapid capitalisation on business and operational opportunities
  • Data analysis and management for decision-making
  • Other requirements

  • Advanced English and Spanish (Mandatory)
  • Available for traveling if requested
