Purpose:

The portfolio projects is essential for the success of Minerals Americas (Escondida and Pampa Norte).

This senior role is key for the successful projects study from the delivery point of view ensuring all interfaces with Operations, value/risk decision making, integration with projects and non-projects functions, collaborators, contractors in accordance with BHP Charter and MinAm Projects strategies.

This role is based on Santiago with eventual site travel to Escondida, Spence and Cerro Colorado, and offers flexible work arrangements.


About the Role:


In this role you will:


Provide information on construction in the SPS and DPS phases, including advanced work planning, sequencing and evaluation of its methodology.

Participate in engineering reviews, safety in design, feasibility and construction preparation, commissioning, operational readiness and other project functional areas.
Collaborate with the site's operational leadership for planning involvement, facilitating early alignment and final approval.
Lead the Strategy and Project Execution Plan development.
Evaluate contracting strategies to optimize costs and schedule, exploring prefabrication, pretesting, and automation opportunities.
Support the procurement team in the purchasing strategy development, logistics and material disposition planning.

Support the scope of work preparation, prequalification and bidding process for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction contracts and Construction Management services.

Recognize specific project considerations (labor, community, transportation, impacts), including resource planning, competency assessment, training, among others.
Define project objectives/schedules, identifies critical activities, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP.
Integrate Project Functional Work Plans through excellence in stakeholders management.
Anticipate, identify and assess risks for informed decision making according to BHP's risk management framework.
Develop project turnover processes and to plan commissioning/handover activities to facilitate the successful commissioning of equipment/projects across BHP.
Explore and iteratively reassess the best fit for purpose solutions, taking ownership of project decisions and outcomes.
Engage, know, understand and build long-term relations with our customers and clients and be obsessed with meeting their needs.

Lead the optimization of Planning & Scheduling through the Work Management process to reduce waste and increase value adding work.


About You:

Professional qualifications in projects, engineering or construction.
Site operations exposure.
Experience in projects development and delivery.
Availability to travel to site.
English and Spanish written and spoken.
