Glencore Copper is seeking Mine Engineering Manager to support the growth and development of our global Copper Portfolio to be based at our Santiago office in Chile.

The Resource Engineering team is a recently established central function supporting existing and future operations and projects.

The team is fundamental in delivering best practice operational performance and long-term strategy at our assets, as well as enabling Glencore's ambitious growth plans.

    The Opportunity

The role is accountable for defining the Mine Engineering standards and ensuring that the standards are implemented on Glencore's Copper operating sites and development projects.

Lead the development, roll-out and governance of mine engineering standards and guidelines including Ore Reserves estimates and reporting.


In this role you will:


  • Develop and maintain technical standards and guidelines in accordance with industry best practice including:
  • Resource Development Planning
  • Life of Asset Planning
  • Reserve Estimation and Reporting
  • Guidelines for all other Open Pit and Underground Mine Engineering focus areas
  • Provide expert mine engineering support to our operations and projects.
  • Provide support to the broader resource engineering group including in the business development area.
  • Develop and maintain benchmark data from existing Glencore operations for use in due diligence and project reviews.
  • Lead and support independent technical reviews of projects and operations.
  • Provide independent review of Resource Development Plans and Life of Mine Plans.
  • Lead the mining function in the Resource and Reserve steering committee.
  • Manage the annual Ore Reserve reporting function for the Glencore Copper business.
  • Develop and implement a Competent Persons Development program.

Your training, skills & expertise checklist:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or similar discipline.
  • 15+ years mining industry experience across mining operations, corporate engineering/consulting, accounting or financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated capability at a manager level leading and developing a team of people.
  • Experience as acting as a competent person for Ore Reserves (JORC).
  • Advanced English language skills. (Spanish is an advantage)
  • Ability to travel to Glencore owned sites and other sites globally as required.
