Job Description:


  • The purpose of the role is to provide legal advice on corporate law, M&A, contractual, litigation, commercial law and labour matters. Group Legal Chile is looking for a Legal Specialist to join the team and support the needs regarding commercial matters related to Marketing (sales), corporate and litigation aspects of the companies incorporated under Chilean law, contractual negotiations related to Supply Chain and litigation, in general, and all other commercial aspects of the business including labour law. This role will also contribute with legal ops of the Legal Team which involves strategic management, improving efficiency, increasing effectiveness, technology implementation and process improvement.

Your duties will be:


  • Support the success of the Group's Chilean business by managing the daytoday provision of legal advice with reference to Corporate law, Commercial Law, Labour Law and Litigation including managing direct reports and identifying and managing key Chilean legal risks and opportunities, including contribution with legal ops.
  • Contribute to the development of Group Legal's systems, procedures and strategies for managing legal risks in relation to commercial transactions.
  • Contribute with legal ops of Group Legal which involves strategic management, improving efficiency, increasing effectiveness, technology implementation and process improvement.
  • Provide highquality legal advice and manage client relationships regarding commercial and corporate law matters that impact Copper's business plans in Chile.
  • Advise on the design and conduct Chilean legal training programs in support of the Group's Chilean business.
  • Advise the Legal Manager
  • Chile in managing the development of templates, playbooks, best practice guides, processes and strategies for managing Chilean legal risk and for optimising Group Legal's delivery of Chilean legal support.
  • Manage corporate matters related to the companies incorporated under Chilean law ensuring compliance with legal regulations and corporate governance standards.
  • Negotiate, draft, and supervise the drafting of commercial agreements in Chile.
  • Propose systems, procedures and strategies for managing legal risks in relation to matters advising on.
  • Provide training to clients on assessing and making decisions regarding legal risks associated with relevant transactions and relationships in Chile.
  • Facilitate the provision of external Chilean legal services to the Group's Chilean business in a costeffective manner.
  • Analyse, assess and refine Group Legal Chilean reports and update own contributions comprehensively and accurately asandwhen material developments occur or monthly, whichever is the more frequent.
  • Facilitate the success of the Anglo American Group in providing legal support as required within the position holder's fields of professional competence.

Qualifications:


  • Admitted as a lawyer in Chile.
  • Additional degree is desirable
  • Language requirements: fluent oral and written Spanish and English.

Experience required:


  • Solid legal background in corporate, commercial, contractual and/or financial law with exposure to broad range of transactions.
  • From 9 to 12 years of relevant professional experience in a Law Firm in Corporate and M&A.
  • Useful mining industry experience and real estate knowledge, but not essential.
