Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently seeking a

Senior Vice President of Operations for our Minerals & Metals (M&M) business in South America.


He/she will have full P&L and Safety Performance responsibility for our Chilean & Pervian M&M operations, ensuring financial performance by delivering on budgets and managing cash flow.

This position plays a key role in business development by engaging with key clients, maintaining selected and key client relationships, and identifying new opportunities for winning and delivering work.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assume P&L and safety performance responsibility for South American M&M businesses
  • Act as a key member of the M&M executive team in developing and implementing M&M's longterm strategy
  • Actively managing the organizational structure, along with the professional development and performance of individuals in the functional and operations management team.
  • Partnering with the M&M Leadership team determine resource allocation across the Wood M&M offices, promoting cooperation and resource sharing
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities through empowerment and accountability; build a culture in which performance matters communicate rewards/consequences
  • Developing and managing budgets and utilization targets.
  • Actively participating in business development with local clients; manage selected client relationships.
  • Oversee the activities of Operations Managers within Mining & Metals in South America
  • Oversee project management, engineering, supply chain, construction, commissioning, HSSE, project controls, quality management and administration activities on Santiago based Mining projects, and optimizing the performance of the operation.
  • Ensure the use of established common project delivery practices, processes, standards, specifications and management tools.
  • Chairing internal review meetings and monthly project review meetings.
  • Recruiting, interviewing and selecting key staff and ensuring project staffing requirements are met.
  • Monitoring safety, health and environment issues and performance, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Ensuring procedures are followed with respect to standards and peer reviews.
  • Reviewing and authorizing all proposals and contracts.
  • Participating in bid/no bid decisions; Acting as Project Sponsor on key projects.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or relevant discipline, is required; Graduate Degree preferred.
  • Over 20+ years proven management experience, of increasing responsibility, with a Mining EPCM company preferably (will consider heavy industry/Power & Process).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams, and manage change, is highly desired.
  • Knowledge and understanding of large EPCM projects, and Studies is essential.
  • Prior experience in an operations management role, and in managing projects and studies will be strongly considered in the selection process.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communications skills are required
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills, both verbal and in writing, are essential
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff and support employee development.
  • Must be eligible to work in Chile, without sponorship from Wood.
