    About the role


    Rio Tinto, Escondida Joint Venture in Santiago, is looking for graduates and students from a range of degrees for different areas across all Engineering degrees.


    Your responsibilities will include:


    • Work collaboratively in an international, multidiscipline team (Processing, Projects, Finance) to deliver the best outcomes across the Escondida Joint Venture.
    • Contribute to the identification and evaluation of key process drivers and risks, impacting both operational best practice and strategic decision making.
    • Developing and maintaining integrated value analysis tools, which will serve as the primary source of valuedriven and strategic decisionmaking information for Copper Group activities.
    • Analyzing operational performance, cost data from mine operations and financial data to inform priority areas for Rio Tinto Management's focus.
    • Supporting the Finance Business Partner in all aspects of the partnership with Escondida: monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, including treasury related transactions, modelling and explaining the impact to the business of financial drivers.
    • Gaining and expanding your understanding of the underlying principles of mineral economics and mining engineering to facilitate valid modeling and rational decisionmaking.
    • Staying updated on global and countryspecific trends in project development finance, including their impact on costs, taxes, and accounting treatments.
    • Assisting in driving the business analysis practice towards increasing excellence in value creation through improved investment decisions in project operations, development, and restructuring.
    • Providing support for risk analysis and management for Rio Tinto Copper Group
    • Chile.
    • Building relationships both within our team and across Rio Tinto.
    • Support the Finance Business Partner in the execution of strategic initiatives.
    • Work proactively with other team members to determine optimum operational conditions for the Processing Operations at Escondida, performing tasks including:
    • Analyzing Life of Mine and operational plans for improvement opportunities
    • Monitoring operational performance
    • Evaluating a range of scenarios
    • Identifying potential key risks and drivers impacting the process
    • Reporting consolidated results including outcomes, supporting evidence and reasoning
    • During the program, you will have the opportunity to work in various areas within the Escondida JV team in Chile, allowing you to gain comprehensive knowledge on Escondida, the world's largest copper miner, with chance to be a key contributor to the team managing Rio Tinto's 30% investment, and to evaluate the investment profile of the asset and the project pipeline.
