The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations.

Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the internship period


Duties may include:

  • Researches, compiles and organizes information and reference materials from various sources for reports, studies, briefings, meetings/conferences, etc.
  • Proofreads documents and edits texts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style, and for adherence to established standards for format.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
  • Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree

or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

  • For this internship, studies in the area of environment are desirable
Work Experience

For this internship, experience in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, on
topics on climate change, sustainable development and circular economy is desirable

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in Spanish is required. Knowledge of English is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.


NOTE:
"Fluency" equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and
understand) and ̈knowledge of ̈ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
